The Liszt Society

founded 1950

A CHARITY DEDICATED TO THE APPRECIATION AND STUDY OF THE LIFE AND

WORKS OF LISZT, AND THE PERFORMANCE, PUBLICATION AND RECORDING OF HIS MUSIC.

Welcome to the website of The Liszt Society. Based in the UK but with a worldwide membership, we are dedicated to the appreciation and study of the life and works of Liszt, and the performance, publication and recording of his music.

Founded in 1950 by the late Humphrey Searle and reconstituted in 1970, we are the longest-standing and original society devoted to Franz Liszt and his output.

Although we have a long and acclaimed history of producing publications we also try to support performers who programme Liszt in their concerts through publicity via this website and regular newsletters to the membership.

New members are very welcome. Our modest annual membership fee enables access to our annual dinner/recital at The Forge in London and our November Annual Day at Goldsmiths College in South London, in addition to our annual Journal and Music Section, plus at least 4 newsletters a year.
